What are some cheap halloween costumes/ideas for young women?

I’m 23, so I’m women’s size small.. A lot of halloween costumes are $40+.. Some of the prices are ridiculous (whether in stores or online). I really don’t have that kind of extra money right now, but I’d love to hit up a couple halloween parties. Where online can I find some costumes in the $20-35 range? What are some ideas to make a costume myself (can’t sew though)? thanks for input, especially from the ladies! )

try looking on craigslist they have a bunch of cute ones on there also ebay, another idea is to hit up your local thrift shops
